Description of my inspiration for the original painting:

Inspiration for this painting came from a breathtaking photo of Yosemite** combined with misty pine forests I have seen in the Black Hills of South Dakota. It is highly textured with many foreground trees sculpted as well as painted. As with many of my larger works, it has far more depth and intricacies than can be seen well online. Viewing this painting in person would be a treat!

Both this half-sized print AND the original oil painting are currently on display in my solo exhibition, “Dazzling Dakota,” at Center for Western Studies (CWS) at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.*  The show runs through April 25, 2025.
