Frosty Sorbet

This painting was inspired by a photographer who captured this fleeting moment of a sweetly pastel winter dawn as the fog cleared from over a tree-lined path and left behind a glittering wonderland. It was taken on a frosty morning near Brookings, South Dakota. She and I share the same love of these uniquely South Dakota winter scenes – the dark season’s gift of heavenly hoarfrost.*

This painting is currently on display in my solo exhibition, “Dazzling Dakota,” at Center for Western Studies (CWS) at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.** The show runs through April 25, 2025.
