The Falls

This monumental painting of our city's namesake is highly textured and the painting continues around the sides and is ready to hang, though could also be framed, if desired.*

This original painting is currently in a juried show, "Rivers of the Plains," at the Center for Western Studies  on Augustana University Campus. They are open Monday-Friday from 8AM-5PM. Inspiration for this painting came from a brilliant capture from a local photographer of our Sioux Falls. I had been wanting to paint our falls and looking for the right reference for years! And Andrew Peschong's shot, which I found in late 2024, took my breath away. I added my own happy sky from a reference taken from my back yard here in Sioux Falls, and added 1 foot of information on either side of his reference from my own photos of the falls to gain that wider scope. Sometimes paintings are a quiltwork of references and imagination to create the perfect composition.**
